Anterior Cruciate Ligaments
By Alexis Jenkins
Alexis Jenkins definitely is very active from the start. Sports have always been her passion; growing up, you could always catch her outside at the softball field playing with her high school, tournament team, or family. This all was until she had an almost career-ending injury occur not just once but twice. Luckily, she could continue to play two years of college softball, but she always wondered why tearing your ACL, also known as your Anterior Cruciate Ligament, was such a big deal. Now years later, she is a Senior here at Millersville studying Sports Journalism. After graduation, she plans to work her way into the ESPN world to eventually become an ESPN Broadcast Journalist.
SPENCER MICKLO
My name is Spencer Micklo. I grew up in Pine Grove, Pennsylvania. I am a junior and an Interactive and Graphic Design Major at Millersville University. I was driven to this particular project because after realizing I am transgender and coming out to my friends, family, and classmates, I realized being transgender is, for lack of a better phrase, not all sunshine and rainbows. I knew that by coming out I would not always be accepted by everyone, I would be misgendered (a lot), and more seriously, I would possibly be discriminated against or be put in dangerous situations because of being an out and proud transgender person. I’m particularly passionate about learning and educating people about the LGBTQIA+ community, so I took this opportunity to educate people about the trans community. I hope that this design will become a permanent installation on campus for future students and faculty to see and learn from. As for the future, I hope to take the skills I’ve learned at Millersville University to educate people and better the world for future generations.
