By Sarah troutman

Sarah Troutman is a junior Music Education student at Millersville University. She became aware of the education system in the Philippines at the age of 13 on a missions trip, however, she was fully involved in the system during the summer of 2019. Provided a scholarship from the Tell School of Music, she taught music on a remote fishing island to grades 4th, 5th, and 6th. During this time, she began to see the differences their education system has versus that of the United States. She notes the disciplines that the Filipino system could benefit from, as well as, notes for the United States education system. After Millersville, she plans to teach any musical area in the public schools with plans to later obtain her Master of Fine Arts in Directing.
